If your card has been lost or stolen, take action as soon as possible. If you report it, we'll cancel it straight away and send you a new one. You'll receive a new card by post within 5-7 working days in the UK and within 10 working days if you’re abroad.

How to tell us your card has been lost or stolen

Mobile banking

  1. Log on to the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app.
  2. Select your account.
  3. Go to 'manage cards'.
  4. Select ‘Report lost or stolen card’.
  5. Follow the instructions

Phone our emergency line

If you're not registered for online banking, phone our emergency line to report your card lost or stolen.

Call 0800 085 2401 from the UK or +44 1442 422929 if you're outside the UK.

Lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may be charged if you call from outside the UK.

Online banking

  1. Log on to online banking.
  2. Go to ‘My banking’, then ‘Card services’.
  3. Select ‘Report lost or stolen card’.
  4. Follow the instructions.

Damaged cards

If your debit or credit card is damaged, you can ask for a replacement.

Mobile banking

  1. Log on to the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app.
  2. Select your account.
  3. Go to ‘Manage cards’.
  4. Select ‘Replace damaged card'.
  5. Follow the instructions.

Online banking

  1. Log on to online banking.
  2. Go to ‘My banking, then ‘Card services’.
  3. Select ‘Replace a damaged card’.
  4. Follow the instructions.

You'll receive a new card by post within 5-7 working days in the UK and within 10 working days if you’re abroad.

The sooner you ask for a new card, the sooner we can send one. You can still use the existing card while you wait for the new one to arrive.

Block or unblock your card

If you can’t find your card but you’re not sure it’s been lost or stolen, you can place a temporary block on it.

When it turn ups, you can unblock it. Or, if you don't find it, report it to us when you’re certain it’s been lost or stolen. You can do this through mobile banking or online banking 24 hours a day.

Expired cards

Before your card expires, we automatically send you a replacement.

If it does expire and you haven’t received a new card, you’ll need to contact our Lost or stolen team.
